Stem Cell face cream………..

Hi chicks you know I love a beauty product and if it mentions it can and will improve the look of your skin then I am INTERESTED with a capital I!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mesoestetic Stem Cell face cream.

Mesoestetic Stem Cell face cream.

I would defiantly hold my hands up and say I am a skincare junky and I love reading about new products on the market and the one I am utterly in-love with is Mesoestetic Stem Cell face cream. Mesoestetic is a high-end range of anti –aging products for the face and neck, designed to fight against the signs of aging.

From the vast range on offer, I wanted to try the Stem Cell active growth factor,  it’s a unique cream that uses the latest generation of active ingredients, plant Stem Cells and epidermal growth factors, to promote the improvement of damaged skin, which helps to hydrate the skin and preserve its youth, repairing and regenerating for a more youthful complexion. All very technical but, tick, tick, tick, yessssss I am in……

This fabulous cream is designed to restructure the cells from within which helps to hydrate and moisturise, growth factors are key elements for communication between skin cells, and they assist the growth of new skin cells for a revitalized, healthy skin, and fight deep wrinkles.

I have been using the stem cell moisturiser for just over 2 months now and I LOVE it, the cream is lightweight and melts into the skin the moment it touches your face. It leaves my face feeling refreshed and instantly hydrated. It is a little pricey, but not off chart pricey, but well worth the money as most importantly I have noticed my wrinkles are softer and I was told the yesterday that I have a lovely glow about me. Thanks Mesoestetic I owe that compliment to you.  I would defiantly give this product 5 ******

Pssst………do you want to know a little secret?

Happy New Year chicks, we hope you had an amazing time over the festive season, but now it’s a new year, and a perfect time to get back on track with our healthy mind, body and spirit journey after all the overindulging we did, wasn’t it worth it though!! We all need a guilt free blowout once in a while, right chicks!!

Use for blog JanAre you ready – are you with us?!! But first we want to share with you a couple of our personal secrets….

We all want to look and feel as fantastic as we can, and as we’ve mentioned a million times it’s not about looking younger, we want to maintain and possibly enhance what we already have, right?

We eat well (most of the time); we exercise, (some of the time, Carol!) and look after our hair and skin, and think about the right make-up and what clothes to wear. Is this enough, or is there a little something else we can do????????

Have you ever tried or thought about trying dun dun dun, botox, fillers or any other non-surgical treatments?

Does it excite you, scare you or are you completely against it. We think it’s all about choice and here at Hot Chicks HQ we say a big yes and hold our hands up we’ve tried it and like it!!

For us it makes us feel so much better, and no one really knows especially if you go to someone with magic hands who can make you look refreshed and basically better than you did!!. So who is she??

Doctor Sylvie Bourree, Sylvie, is an internationally recognised top aesthetician Doctor, who earned her reputation through her amazing non – surgical work and skin rejuvenation.

We have known Sylvie for a number of years (probably more than we realised) and the reason we keep going back to see her again and again is because of her amazing work for creating that ‘natural look’ and ability to achieve a youthful glow.

She really studies your face, symmetries everything, leaving you looking fresh and beautiful without looking like you have been trapped in a wind tunnel; you know what we are saying!

Our advice is, find someone who  is recommended to you, don’t be afraid to ask questions, tell them what you want to achieve and then, like us you can walk out with your very own little secret, and wait for those compliments,  ooh you look well, and you can say, yes I DO!

If you would like to contact Dr Boureee her details are: http://www.docteur-sylvie-bouree.com or Sylvie also works at HB Health in London, http://www.hbhealth.com

Let’s talk… dry skin

Hi chicks, this week’s blog is all about dry skin – something we’ve both been suffering with lately.

coffee and coconut body scrub

Processed with VSCOcam with c2 preset

Surprise surprise, it’s yet another thing that we can blame the pesky menopause for, boo! But on the positive side, it’s something that we can deal with fairly easily. Read on chicks…So, first the science: what’s causing it? During the perimenopause and menopause, our oestrogen levels drop. Oestrogen is our power house, responsible for many fabulous things including stimulating the formation of our skin. As our oestrogen levels drop, production drops, our bodies’ ability to retain moisture diminishes, and this in turn leads to drier, thinner skin. That’s the negative stuff out the way. As you know by now, we here at HC HQ are all about kicking the menopause’s butt, finding solutions to help us sparkle inside and out. And we have a few tried and tested top tips for combatting dry skin.

First, the feet.

Feet tend to be on the drier side anyway, all the more now the sun’s out (hmm, well it was yesterday!). The most effective way we’ve found to inject so much needed moisture into our tootsies is to smother them in petroleum jelly (cheap as chips!), pull on a pair of socks, tuck ourselves into bed for a good night’s sleep – and ta dah! Super soft feet in the morning, woo hoo! Now, we realise that this may not be the sexiest look on the planet, but a chick’s gotta do what a chick’s gotta do, and a chick’s gotta have super soft feet in the summer!

Next, your entire body…

Try to up your intake of omega 3 fatty acids (the ‘good fats’). These fatty acids are responsible for the health of the cell membrane, influencing the cell’s ability to hold water, leading to moister and softer skin. Foods high in omega 3 include salmon, walnuts, eggs and flaxseeds – yum!

Also give dry body brushing a go. This does feel a little strange to begin with, but we can’t rave about it enough. You can buy a brush from places like Boots, and the Body Shop and, just before you get in the shower, use upward movements to brush the skin until you get to your chest, then brush back down. It literally takes 2 minutes at the very most, and this is a fab way of removing the dead skin cells.

Make sure you only use a gentle body wash. Harsh, perfumed ones will only dry your skin out more and we absolutely don’t want that! Kids’ body washes are great – they’re so mild.

Grease yourself up! Apply baby oil or bio oil straight after a bath when you’re skin’s still wet – the perfect way to keep your skin hydrated (and slightly sexier than the Vaseline and socks!).

Up your intake of phytoestrogen (also called dietary oestrogen). Foods high in natural oestrogen include wholegrain, seeds (especially flaxseeds and nuts), tofu, oats, lentils, rice, apples and broccoli. Also try herbs like red clover, black cohosh, dong qui and panax gingseng (we’ll cover these in a future blog).

Let us know if any of these tips work for you, or if you have any other tried and tested strategies – we love to hear from you.

Facials

Beauty shotMy absolute favourite of all favourite treats is a facial. If money were no object, I’d have one every day. But in the real world, I try to have a one every few months.

I’ve dream about having a flawless complexion. It’s not about turning back the clock, but about making the most of what I’ve got now and looking the best that I can, so that I feel great too.

I’m an avid reader of articles about different beauty treatments, which is how I came across HB Health of Knightsbridge. What I absolutely LOVE about this place is that they’re a leader in the health revolution (and you know I love a revolution!). They work with their clients from the inside out, optimising their health, and providing holistic anti-ageing treatments using the very latest medicines and technologies.

I booked an appointment with a really lovely therapist, Saira. She’s warm, friendly and utterly gorgeous with the most stunning complexion: yep, I was definitely in the right place.

After a consultation, Saira suggested I have a skin rejuvenation treatment and a non-surgical facelift.

The first step was a lovely cleanse. Saira used a variety of different products to remove the old and dead top layers of skin cells so as to encourage new cells to grow.

The next step was the non-surgical facelift and neck tightening. This was done using Accent Ultra – an ultrasound and radio frequency system. Accent Ultra changes the shape of fat cells, shrinking and re-modelling the connective tissue. It isn’t painful at all but does feel a little bit strange – a bit like a metal ball being massaged all over your face – which is actually really relaxing. Saira talked me through everything as it happened, and also gave me some top tips for things I could do at home to keep my skin looking good.

And the results? I really could see a difference in the texture of my skin. It looked tighter, especially on the jowl and chin area. I was really impressed.

I’m already saving for my next treat…or isn’t it almost Mother’s Day… hint, hint!

Hope you enjoy the post!

Operation Flawless Skin – Mission: Possible? Part 2

So, I’m now six weeks into my new skincare routine, using Aspect DR products. Here’s what I’ve found:

dr-aspect-skincareDeep cleanse – I really, really, really love the deep cleanser. It has the consistency of a gel, which makes it easy to apply to damp skin. Please don’t worry that it doesn’t foam up like a lot of cleansers – your skin will still feel like it has had a really good clean and, best of all, it leaves none of the tightness that you can get after washing your face.

Serums A, B and C – like the cleanser, these have a lightweight consistency meaning that they glide on, and feel really nice on your face. I prefer my skin to be slightly damp when using the serums. They don’t really have much of a smell, and all melt beautifully into your skin. Although the manufacturer claims that the serums alone should provide enough moisture, my skin didn’t agree. I really needed the added moisture from my usual moisturiser which worked well with the serums.

Unfortunately, the vitamin A serum made my face red, and I didn’t like the feeling of my skin after I used it. I do nevertheless love the vitamin B and C serums.

Moisturiser – this is an odd colour (grey/lilac) and the consistency is a little unusual, melting the moment you touch it. I didn’t find that it benefited my usual skincare regime, and I still needed to add my usual moisturiser because my skin felt tight.

Overall strengths – the brand is expensive because it’s formulated with the highest concentrations of pure, naturally-derived botanicals and high octane cosmeceutical correctives. It’s also free from the following nasties:

  • Propylene glycol
  • Mineral oils
  • Parabens and other harsh preservative systems
  • Articial fragrances
  • Animal-derived ingredients
  • Animal-testing.

The products do have a high-quality feel about them – the cleanser is one of the best I’ve used, and I’m a big fan of the vitamin C serum.

Weaknesses – the cost. This is a high-end brand so it doesn’t come cheap. The bottles are pretty small in the starter kits so only last a couple of months which, given the cost, is disappointing. I didn’t like all of the products on offer, buy trying the sets is a good way to see what works and what doesn’t work for you. You can only really purchase this online as the brand has limited stockists, so this isn’t great if you want skincare advice.

Buy or say bye bye? It took a while for me to see any differences but, after six weeks, I must admit that my skin looks clearer and, dare I say, smoother and fresher looking. Woohoo! I’ll definitely buy the vitamin C serum and deep cleanser again.

Operation Flawless Skin – Mission: Possible? Part 1

skin_2Flawless skin has always eluded me

I’ve come close a few times, but I’ve never quite achieved the clear complexion that I long for.

One of the symptoms of the peri-menopause is drier skin. I could take this as a sign that I should stop trying to get perfect skin and admit defeat. Or, I could poke my tongue out at the peri-menopause, and make a renewed effort reach my goal.

Chicks, can you guess which way I’ll go?

That’s right, I’m now on a renewed mission to see if it’s possible to get healthier, fresher, clearer looking skin. Is this vanity? Very probably. But it’s not about looking younger than I do (or younger than I am), but about looking the best that I can, and making the most of what I’ve got.

So what’s the plan?

I can’t deny that I’m an advertiser’s dream. I hate to think just how much I’ve spent on creams that claim to be a little miracle in a jar. Am I right to believe that somewhere out there there’s a very expensive pot of cream that’s the answer to my prayers?

I haven’t lost faith yet. I’m trying a new range of creams all the way from Down Under called Aspect DR. They claim to be scientifically-tested with proven results – whoop whoop!

I’m using the ABC Essential starter kit, and will report back on my findings shortly. Watch this space…
